Stranger Than Heaven assist items will be available from the start, according to RGG Studio producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto. The optional equipment is designed to help players who struggle with the upcoming action game’s more demanding combat.
Sakamoto explained the features in an IGN interview republished by Yahoo on October 31. The announcement is about built-in support options, rather than third-party modifications.
How Stranger Than Heaven assist items work
The producer described equipment that automatically restores health and provides other advantages. Some assistance items are intended to let beginners clear encounters using basic left and right punches when blocking proves difficult.
The items are worn as clothing, making their use visible on the character. They are optional: Sakamoto also described difficulty settings, an extended introductory tutorial and a particularly demanding highest difficulty.
Why combat support matters here
The game’s fighting system places emphasis on reading attacks and parrying. Xbox Wire’s earlier hands-on report describes separate left and right attack inputs and directional defence across its demonstrations.
For someone interested mainly in the story, the useful news is that combat support is planned from the beginning. For a player seeking a challenge, the producer’s description leaves room to learn the fuller system and choose a harder setting. These are announced options; this report is not a hands-on assessment of their final balance.
Platforms and release plans
The announced platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Xbox Wire lists January 15, 2027 for release. The fresh detail in the October interview is the explanation of assist equipment, rather than a new launch on older consoles.
