A Ubisoft bid for Arkane Lyon is among several offers reported by Bloomberg as Xbox considers the French studio’s future. Jason Schreier’s November 3 report cites people familiar with the negotiations; it describes competing offers rather than an announced acquisition agreement.
What Bloomberg reports
According to Bloomberg, Ubisoft and at least two other gaming companies have made bids. Xbox has also considered a sale to Arkane’s own management. The report does not identify the other bidders or establish which option will succeed.
For players following Marvel’s Blade, the distinction matters: interest in buying a developer does not by itself establish a publishing agreement, intellectual-property transfer or release commitment. Those details should not be assumed from a bid.
Microsoft has extended the consultation
In a statement given directly to PC Gamer, Microsoft said the consultation period had been extended by one additional month while it explored options, including a partner to support development work still ahead. The earlier consultation deadline had been November 13.
Microsoft also told the outlet that closure documents were part of the required consultation process and did not represent a final decision. That statement leaves the outcome open; it is not confirmation of either a completed sale or an inevitable shutdown.
Marvel’s Blade: the official announcement background
Marvel’s December 7, 2023 announcement introduced Arkane Lyon’s project as a mature, single-player, third-person game set in Paris. The official trailer below is historical background on the project, not a new development update or evidence of a completed sale.
