So, how can you get your hands on the free Xander skin in Fortnite? First, let’s figure out how the whole ‘refer a friend’ thing works.
How to refer a friend
The process of referring a friend is pretty straightforward and once you’ve referred someone you can immediately start racking up points and earning rewards. Here’s what the process looks like:
- Go to the Refer a Friend website and sign in with your Epic Games account
- Pick up to five people to refer
- Start playing with your friends and complete various in-game tasks and challenges
- Earn various rewards including the new Xander skin
Now before going into exactly what is required in order to acquire the new skin we need to mention a few things. Firstly, there is a deadline you need to keep in mind. The Refer a Friend program started on July 19th 2022 and you have a chance to refer someone until January 10th 2023, at 11:59 ET. After that you have until February 19th 2023 to snag yourself all of the rewards.
Another thing to note is that the friend you’re referring doesn’t necessarily need to be a new player. That being said, they can’t have more than two hours spent playing in the last 30 days. This includes Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build.
How to get the Xander Outfit
We’ve talked about how you need to complete tasks to earn rewards but what exactly are these challenges and what else can you get besides the new skin? Here’s a complete breakdown of what to expect from this program:
- Double Draw Spray – Refer a friend.
- Immortal Oasis Wrap – Play one game with your referee (the person that you’ve referred)
- Oasis Wind Back Bling – place Top 10 a total of six times with your referee
- Oasis Wind Harvesting Tool – Eliminate a total of 45 opponents alongside your referee
- Xander Outfit – Both you and your referee need to advance 60 levels in the Battle Pass
All of the challenges listed below, apart from the last one, need to be completed in Duos, Trios, or Squads. Since it could take quite a while to gain the levels needed to obtain the Xander skin, you’d better start playing now.
