The gaming community is sad and protesting, with the dropped of the GTA 6 trailer few days ago, gamers are left with excitement and the anticipation of the new series of GTA to the highs! But, along with this they also announced that the game will have no PC version during the release! This spreads frustration among the GTA fans.
The recent announcement that GTA 6 will debut in 2025, will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S gaming console, the PC platform is no where on the list. This news, while disappointing, isn’t entirely unexpected, considering Rockstar Games’ history with delayed PC releases.
It’s Not All Sad News
GTA 6 promises to continue this legacy, and just like the previous series of GTA the PC version will be released late. Historically, Rockstar’s strategy has leaned towards delayed PC releases, as seen with GTA 5’s 19-month wait and Red Dead Redemption 2‘s year-long gap.
The rationale? Possibly a blend of business strategy and developmental timelines. Rockstar’s past confrontations with the modding community and their propensity to double-dip in sales by releasing on consoles first might play a role.
But with this approach feels increasingly outmoded, especially in an era where the PC gaming community thrives, innovating with roleplay and mods, as evidenced by the legendary status GTA 5 attained post-PC release.
The initial release’s focus on consoles may allow Rockstar to first ensure optimal performance there before applying expertise to the unique complexities of PC optimization. This approach could also let Rockstar introduce enhanced graphical fidelity for the eventual PC port, building on their success implementing this tactic with GTA 5.
When asked about PC strategy, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said decisions are made holistically on a title-by-title basis rather than a uniform company-wide policy. Though this adaptability may temporarily frustrate enthusiastic PC gamers, it likely stems from a blend of creative and business priorities for each release.
Patience is the Key
Though launch in 2025 is primarily focused on consoles, PC gamers will undoubtedly appreciate the extra fine-tuning dedicated to delivering the most ambitious Rockstar PC experience yet.
If you really wanted to play GTA 6 on its release then you better grab your PlayStation and XBOX gaming console. So you wont be left in unfamiliar state of waiting and speculation. Rockstar might shorten the gap this time around, acknowledging the large population of PC gaming community.
The popularity of GTA 5 has fueled the part of the PC modding community, and expect the same Modding with this series.
Rockstar will eventually release to PC version of this game just like GTA 5 but will take another good year. But for now, patience is the key, with the hope that our wait will be rewarded with an experience that transcends expectations.
