Sony Interactive Entertainment estimates that Marvel’s Wolverine sold 2.4 million copies worldwide through November 4. Sony’s supplemental earnings tables give that figure for the game’s first 50 days on PlayStation 5 after its September 15 release.
What the Wolverine figure measures
Sony labels the software figure as sell-through, its estimate of purchases by customers. It provides one cumulative figure. It does not break out Wolverine’s launch weekend, average selling price or development costs. That leaves no basis in this release for a weekly sales curve or a profit calculation.
How PS5 shipments reached 97.9 million
Sony’s tables put cumulative PS5 shipments at 93.7 million at the end of March. Adding 1.6 million in the June quarter and 2.6 million in the September quarter brings the total to 97.9 million. These are shipments into the sales channel. The hardware period closes more than a month before the November 4 software count.
