Stronghold 4 Early Access is now scheduled for April 20, 2027, replacing December 7, 2026. Firefly Studios’ release-date update says the additional time will support improvements and let the economic campaign arrive with the initial release.
The economic campaign moves into the launch package
Firefly had planned the economic campaign as a later Early Access update. It now joins the intended launch content, which also includes a full story campaign, custom skirmish, a skirmish trail and Free Build.
That changes what buyers are being promised on the first day of Early Access. It does not turn April 20 into a version 1.0 date; the announcement still describes an Early Access release.
Why Firefly is taking more time
In the official video update, studio head Nick Tannahill cites development time, polish and feedback from the public demo. He also describes the benefit of avoiding a busy holiday release schedule.
Those are the studio’s stated reasons. The delay alone cannot establish how the game will sell or which competing release would have affected it.
The existing public demo offers Skirmish and Free Build content. Trying that build can help players judge the current systems, but it should not be treated as the complete Early Access package.
