Season 6, aptly named “Invasion,” has been touted as the most significant in Overwatch 2’s history, with a plethora of new features including Hero Missions, an evolution of the original PvE concept. However, the Hero Mastery mode, a key highlight of the season, will now be unveiled a month later than the rest of the features.
When is the New Release Date of the Hero Mastery Mode – Overwatch 2: Invasion
In the blog post Blizzard stated that they will release their mid-season update in September of 2023.
Interestingly, the Hero Mastery mode will not be launched with all the heroes in the game available for mastery. Instead, a select group of heroes will be available for mastery in Season 6, with more heroes set to be added in subsequent updates. This approach allows for a gradual and more immersive introduction of the new mode, keeping players engaged and excited for future updates.
The delay of the Hero Mastery mode places a significant emphasis on Season 6’s PvE Story Missions. Furthermore, the introduction of global leaderboards for hero mastery will showcase the most skilled player for each hero available, adding a competitive edge to the game.
Season 6 is also set to introduce a revamped firing range, providing players with an opportunity to hone their accuracy. Additionally, a new “Flashpoint” game mode and a new support hero, about whom little is known, will be added to the game.
While the delay of the Hero Mastery mode might be a slight disappointment for some fans, the wealth of new content that Season 6 promises to bring is sure to keep the Overwatch community engaged and excited. As always, the effectiveness of these new features and updates in addressing the concerns raised by the community about Blizzard’s game management and PvE development will only be revealed with time.
